On April 2, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Cheyenne Trail, Pleasant Garden, in reference to a reported altercation.  Upon arrival, the victim reported that Steven Chance Hood had forced entry into the residence by breaking through a window, was observed climbing out of the window, and then fled into an outbuilding upon return to the residence. 

Deputies approached the outbuilding and gave multiple verbal commands for Hood to exit. After several attempts, he complied. When he exited, he showed clear signs of being under the influence of a substance. An active 50-B protective order filed against Hood was confirmed. He was placed under arrest and taken to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony second-degree burglary, misdemeanor domestic violence protective order violation, misdemeanor injury to real property, and misdemeanor communicating threats. He was not issued a bond due to the active 50-B protective order. A first appearance was scheduled for April 6, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

In December 2025, members of the Invictus Task Force initiated an investigation related to a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  During the course of the investigation, Ahmad Masih Askaryar was identified as a suspect.  

On April 2, 2026, a search warrant was executed by members of the Invictus Task Force; as a result, Ahmad Masih Askaryar was subsequently taken into custody and charged with one (1) count of Felony Second-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Askaryar was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center, where the magistrate issued no bond and set a first appearance in Alamance County District Court for April 6, 2026. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Invictus Task Force representatives.

On April 1, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hawksview Rd., Franklinville, in reference to a suspicious vehicle. 

Upon arrival, deputies located a truck stationary in the middle of the roadway and still running.  The male subject, identified as Tony Roger Ward, was slumped over in the driver’s seat.  Deputies suspected Ward was under the influence of an impairing substance and requested the North Carolina Highway Patrol to respond. When Ward exited the vehicle, illegal narcotics were observed and recovered.  Ward was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of heroin and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was held without bond due to being out on pretrial release. His first court appearance was set for April 6, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

As part of National Police Week, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office will host the eighth annual Blessing of the Badges on May 15, 2026. This event is open to the public and provides an opportunity for the community to come together in prayer and support of the law enforcement officers who serve and protect Randolph County. The brief service will be held at noon on the Sheriff’s Office lawn (indoors if it rains), located at 727 McDowell Road, Asheboro.

On April 1, 2026, while the Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) was assisting another agency in searching for a wanted subject, they located another individual, identified as Ryan Anil Kumar, on Leonae Drive in Randleman, who also had an outstanding order for arrest. During a search for arrest, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located. Kumar was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate served his outstanding order for arrest and found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of fentanyl, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. A first appearance was set for April 6, 2026, and a secured bond of $11,000 was issued.

On March 31, 2026, Detectives with the Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) initiated a traffic stop on Steele St., Asheboro.  The driver, later identified as Jose Daniel Vargas, refused to pull over initially.  When CAT Detectives attempted to detain him, he began to resist but was taken into custody.  

He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. The magistrate found probable cause for misdemeanor resisting a public officer, fail to yield to blue lights and siren, and misdemeanor injury to personal property.  During the booking process, he was found to have methamphetamine and paraphernalia in his possession. Additional charges were served for felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of a controlled substance in jail/prison, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a $100,000 secured bond, and a court date was set for April 1, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On November 19, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Koonce Ct., Trinity, in reference to fraud. 

Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against Chasity Elaine King for felony obtaining property by false pretense.  The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and issued a criminal summons.   

On March 26, 2026, King was located and served with her criminal summons.  She is set to appear in Randolph County District Court on April 6, 2026.

On February 3, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Hollow Tree Drive, Liberty, in reference to a gunshot/assault.   

Upon arrival, deputies entered the residence and identified the two subjects with gunshot wounds, and administered aid until EMS arrived for transport.   

Following the investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division, charges were sought against Treven Terrill Benton for felony breaking and/or entering, four counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, felony possession of a stolen firearm, felony possession of a firearm by a felon, felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injuries, felony attempted first-degree murder. The magistrate found probable cause and issued warrants for arrest.

On March 18, 2026, Benton was located in Guilford County, arrested, and transported to the Guilford County Detention Center, where he was issued no bond and a first appearance was set for March 23, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On March 20, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team Highway Unit conducted a traffic stop on I-85, Archdale. After further investigation, a subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted due to the odor of marijuana emitting from within. As a result, detectives located and seized approximately 1.2 pounds (556.5 grams) of marijuana and U.S. currency.  

Darrin Rudolph Daniels, of Hope Mills, NC, was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of felony possession of marijuana, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, two counts of misdemeanor resisting a public officer, and misdemeanor injury to personal property. He was also issued a detainer by ATF for an arrest warrant for possession of a firearm by a felon. He received a $2,000 bond and a first appearance set for March 23, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On March 28, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Cedar Forest Rd, Franklinville, regarding a burglary in progress. While enroute, communications advised that the homeowner was providing details from surveillance footage inside the residence. Upon arrival, deputies found two individuals inside the home, later identified as James Allen Voncannon, III, and a juvenile, and they were detained.  

Following an investigation, Voncannon was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony second-degree burglary and issued a $25,000 secured bond. Voncannon is to appear in Randolph County District Court on March 30, 2026.

On March 29, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 421 near Liberty. During a subsequent search, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located.  Caseie Marie Bullard was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.  She was issued a $10,000 secured bond, and a first appearance was set for March 30, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On March 4, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Randleman Road, Randleman, in reference to an assault in progress. Upon arrival, deputies observed an injured victim.  EMS responded for an evaluation. The victim was transported to an area hospital for further treatment.  

Following the investigation, deputies attempted to locate the assailant, who had been identified as Gary Lamont Smith, but were unsuccessful. Charges were sought against Smith for felony assault serious injury, misdemeanor assault on a female, and misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.            

On March 23, 2026, Smith was located in Guilford County, arrested, and transported to the Guilford County Detention Center, where he was initially issued no bond due to the charges being domestic in nature.  A court date was set for April 27, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On March 24, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office VNET searched a residence located on Sunset View Dr. Ext., Archdale. During the search, Detectives located and seized methamphetamine, fentanyl, and items of drug paraphernalia.  

As a result, a warrant for arrest was issued on Shannon Lee Mahan for felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of schedule II, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.  

On March 30, 2026, the Criminal Apprehension Team located and arrested Mahan and transported her to the Randolph County Detention Center. She was served with her warrant for arrest and issued an $8,000 secured bond, with a first appearance set for March 31, 2026, in Randolph County District Court. She was also served with a failure to appear out of Guilford County, where she received a $1,500 secured bond, with a first appearance scheduled for April 2, 2026, in Guilford County District Court.

On March 17, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office VNET, along with the Vice Narcotics Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence located on Koonce Ct. in Trinity. During the search, Detectives located and seized a trafficking amount of methamphetamine, along with marijuana, and items of drug paraphernalia. Also seized were two firearms and U.S. currency.  

As a result, a warrant for arrest was issued on Jonathan Ray Robbins for felony trafficking in methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to ½ oz., misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor resisting a public officer, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia. On March 26, 2026, Robbins turned himself in at the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate issued him a $450,000 secured bond, along with Electronic House Arrest, and a first appearance scheduled for March 27, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

In January 2026, members of the Invictus Task Force initiated an investigation into an act of solicitation by computer. During the course of the investigation, Brandon Scott Koffler was identified as a suspect.  

On March 27, 2026, the Invictus Task Force with the assistance of Iredell County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant; as a result, Brandon Scott Koffler was subsequently taken into custody and charged with eight (8) counts of Felony Third- Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and one (1) count of Felony Solicitation of a Child by Computer. Koffler was transported to the Forsyth County Detention Center, where the magistrate issued no bond and set a first appearance in Forsyth County District Court for March 30, 2026. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Invictus Task Force representatives.

On November 17, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Old Mountain Rd., Trinity, in reference to a burglary.   

Following the investigation, charges were sought against Cordell Gideon Shultz-Southworth for felony first-degree burglary, and misdemeanor first-degree trespassing.  The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest.   

On March 25, 2026, Shultz-Southworth was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served the warrant. He was issued no bond and is to appear in Randolph County District Court on March 26, 2026.

On March 26, 2026, the Invictus Task Force charged James Douglas Metcalf with ten (10) counts of Felony Second- Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Task Force by serving Metcalf at the Rowan County Detention Center, where the magistrate issued no bond and set a first appearance in Alamance County District Court for March 30, 2026. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, Invictus Task Force representatives.

(NASH COUNTY, NC) – A coordinated, multi-county undercover operation in Nashville has led to the arrest of 16 individuals accused of attempting to prey on children online. The four-day undercover operation that took place in February, involved more than 150 officers from 13 law enforcement agencies working together to identify, investigate, and apprehend alleged sexual predators who believed they were communicating with children under the age of 16. 

The operation resulted in more than 80 criminal charges, including sexual exploitation of a minor, solicitation of a child by computer, attempted statutory rape, indecent liberties with a child, firearms violations, and dissemination of obscenity to a minor. 

Participating agencies included the Nashville Police Department, Nash County Sheriff’s Office, Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Rocky Mount Police Department, Sunset Beach Police Department, Fayetteville Police Department, Huntersville Police Department, Onslow County Sheriff’s Office, the Invictus Task Force, the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Raleigh Police Department, the Nash County District Attorney's Office, the Nash County Magistrate's Office, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). 

“This operation demonstrates the power of teamwork and shared commitment across jurisdictions,” said Nashville Police Chief Caleb Shockley. “Every one of these agencies came together with one goal — to protect children, and remove dangerous individuals from our communities.” 

Officers posed as minors during the operation, communicating with suspects online as part of proactive efforts to intercept criminal behavior before it reached real children. The arrests mark an ongoing effort to combat online exploitation and bring attention to the dangers children face in digital spaces. 

Law enforcement leaders urge parents and guardians to remain vigilant about their children’s online activity and to report any suspected exploitation immediately to local authorities or the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children CyberTipline at www.cybertipline.org. 

This investigation remains active, and additional charges may be forthcoming. Local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies are committed to continuing to proactively investigate and enforce child sex offenses and target child predators throughout North Carolina.

On March 3, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sex offense upon a minor.  

Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, a search warrant was executed at the residence of Robert Ray Cox II on March 26, 2026.  Cox was taken into custody and charged with felony second degree forcible rape, statutory rape of a child <=15, first degree statutory sex offense, and indecent liberties with a child.   

Cox was issued no bond and a first appearance was set on March 27, 2026, by the magistrate.  

This is an ongoing investigation.

On March 16, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team Urban Unit, while in the area of Small Rd, Randleman, observed a suspicious vehicle. After further investigation, a subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, and marijuana, weapons, and U.S. currency were located and seized.  

As a result, Branson Nathaniel Simmons was placed under arrest and charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule I controlled substance, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony maintain vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance, misdemeanor carry concealed gun, misdemeanor possess marijuana paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possess drug paraphernalia. Simmons received an $18,000 secured bond with a first appearance scheduled for March 17, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.   

An additional offender, a juvenile, has been charged in this matter and is pending service of charges at this time.

On March 16, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Sharon Acres Dr., Sophia, in reference to an unauthorized use of a vehicle.  

Following an investigation by the Criminal Interdiction Team Urban Unit, the vehicle was recovered, and a suspect was developed.  

On March 17, 2026, Singletary was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where she was charged accordingly for felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and issued a $5,000 secured bond.  She was also served an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear and received a $1,000 secured bond.  A first appearance was set for March 18, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

Talia Dawn Singletary

Age: 33

On April 29, 2020, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Cheyenne Trail, Pleasant Garden, in reference to a larceny of a firearm. It was entered into NCIC. 

Following a lengthy investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against James Lucas Cumby, Jr. for felony possession of a firearm by a felon, felony possession of a stolen firearm, and felony obtain property by false pretense on March 24, 2026. 

On March 25, 2026, Cumby was located and arrested by the Criminal Apprehension Team.  During the search to arrest, Detectives located cocaine and paraphernalia in his possession.  He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also served with his outstanding warrants. No bond was set at this time on the possession of a firearm by a felon charge, a $30,000 secured bond was set on the possession of a stolen firearm warrant, and a $15,000 was set on the magistrate’s order ($45,000 total secured bond) and is to appear in Randolph County District Court on March 26, 2026.

On March 23, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Jordan Rd., Ramseur, in reference to fraud.  The victim's bank card had been used to make a purchase and the mobile app alerted to the purchase.   

Following the investigation, charges were sought against Dontrell Dominque Webb for felony financial card theft, felony financial card fraud, and felony obtaining property by false pretense.  The magistrate found probable cause for the charges, and a warrant for arrest was issued.  

Later the same day, Webb was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant. He was issued a $5,000 secured bond and is set to appear in Randolph County District Court on March 24, 2026.

On March 13, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registry Detective received information that Markus Antawon Jones may be in violation of the registry requirements.  By NC law, a sex offender must appear in person and give written notice to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, of an address change within three business days. Jones failed to report to the Sheriff's Office and was in violation. A warrant was sought for Jones for felony fail to notify of new address – sex offender. The magistrate found probable cause and issued the warrant for arrest. 

On March 24, 2026, Jones was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served the warrant. He was issued a secured bond in the amount of $50,000 and is to appear in Randolph County District Court on March 25, 2026.

On March 23, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Pinebrook Drive, Archdale, NC, in reference to an agency assist with NC Probation and Parole, who had located suspected narcotics and paraphernalia in the possession of Tiffany Nichole Wyse. Following positive results of the field tests, Wyse was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of fentanyl, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was issued a secured bond in the amount of $15,000 and is to appear in Randolph County District Court on March 24, 2026.

On March 23, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Loflin Hill Rd., Trinity, in reference to a 911 hangup.  Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with the subjects on scene. 

During the investigation, Tyler Eugene Price was being placed under arrest for taking a phone from someone trying to call 911 for assistance when he removed items from his pocket and tossed them aside. Upon further investigation, methamphetamine was identified.   

Following the investigation, Price was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony larceny from the person, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor assault on a female, misdemeanor interfere with emergency communications, and misdemeanor communicating threats.  He was issued a $5,000 secured bond and is to appear in Randolph County District Court on March 24, 2026.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and Safe Kids Randolph County are hosting a Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 11:30 am – 4:30 pm, to allow individuals to just drive through the parking lot and dispose of prescription drugs that could be diverted or misused. Safe Kids Randolph County will distribute medicine lock boxes during the event, while supplies last. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is at 727 McDowell Road in Asheboro. 

While prescription drug abuse is more commonly associated with younger age groups, senior and elderly medicated patients may also be at heightened risk of developing addiction due to the number and variety of drugs they take for health reasons. Cleaning out unused prescriptions helps reduce that risk. 

The Prescription Drug Take Back Day and the Med Dropbox give people the ability and opportunity to properly and safely dispose of prescription medications, ensure that they do not get in the wrong hands, and are kept away from our water and landfills. 

On other days, a Med Drop collection box is available in the first-floor elevator entrance of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with no questions asked and no paperwork to fill out. The box is designed for people to drop off their expired and/or no longer needed medications. The prescription drop box is for prescription drugs only. No syringes or liquids are to be dropped off in the drug drop box at any location.

Randolph County, NC — The Community-Based Programs Division of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the Second Annual C.A.R.E. Classic Golf Tournament, scheduled for August 27, 2026. The event will once again be held at Pinewood Country Club, with the same tournament schedule and start time as last year’s event. 

The C.A.R.E. Classic supports the Sheriff’s Office C.A.R.E. Program (Child Abuse Reduction Effort), which provides child abuse prevention education to second graders in nearly every school across Randolph County. Through engaging and age-appropriate instruction, students learn that they are super, fantastic, and special — and that they have the right to feel safe. The program empowers children to recognize abuse and understand how to seek help if they ever feel unsafe. 

Following the success of the inaugural tournament, the Sheriff’s Office looks forward to bringing together community leaders, businesses, and supporters once again for a day of golf, fellowship, and meaningful impact. 

Team registrations and hole sponsorships ($150) are available. Proceeds directly benefit the continued growth and expansion of the C.A.R.E. Program, ensuring it reaches even more children throughout the county.

On January 20, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team Urban Unit responded to Faith Rock Rd. in Franklinville, in reference to fraud that occurred at a local business.  Upon arrival, detectives were advised that a subject had purchased equipment, but had another individual make the transaction on December 11, 2025.   

Following an investigation, charges were sought against Nathaniel Rajon Pleasant for felony obtain property by false pretense.   

On March 5, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received information from Sumter, SC, on the wanted subject and his vehicle.  He was arrested pending extradition to Randolph County. 

On March 20, 2026, the Criminal Apprehension Team served an outstanding warrant for arrest on Nathaniel Rajon Pleasant after arraigning for his extradition from the Sumter County Jail in Sumter, South Carolina. A first appearance was set for March 23, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On March 20, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office located Terry Allen Wilson, who had an active order for arrest for unpaid child support.  He was arrested without incident and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center.  During the booking process, suboxone strips were located in his possession.  Due to Mr. Wilson possessing them on school property and jail premises, he was charged with felony possession of controlled substances on jail premises, felony possession of a controlled substance within 1000 ft of school property, as well as misdemeanor simple Schedule III possession. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges, issued a $50,000 secured bond, and ordered the defendant to appear in Randolph County District Court on March 23, 2026.  For his child support OFA, he is subject to a $5,000 purge payment, which will remain in effect until paid or released by a judge.

On March 21, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was assisting with a license checking station at the intersection of Hayworth St. and Stratford Rd., Archdale.   Deputies noticed the odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle. Upon informing the male driver that they were conducting a driver's license checkpoint, they requested that he produce his driver's license. The male advised that he did not possess an active driver's license but provided a Florida identification card. He was identified as Nathan Robert Basham. 

During a subsequent search, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located.  Basham was arrested and transported to Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor driving while license revoked. The magistrate issued No Bond since Basham was currently out on pre-trial release.  A first appearance was set for March 23, 2026, in Randolph County District Court. 

The passenger, Hope McMullan, was issued a citation for simple possession of a Schedule Vl controlled substance and resisting a public officer.  She was released on scene to maintain possession of their dog and the rented vehicle.

On March 22, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported vehicle theft on Mary Viola Road. While enroute, the call was upgraded to an assault in progress. Upon arrival, deputies located the assailant and victim.  EMS responded to evaluate the victim and transported her to an area hospital for additional evaluation.   

Following an investigation, Ricky Earle Burgess was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center.  The magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault on a female, and misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. Due to the domestic nature of the offenses, no bond was issued. A first appearance was set for March 23, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On March 20, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Cross Creek Rd. in Asheboro, in reference to a welfare check.   While enroute, deputies were notified by Randolph County Communications that the subjects on scene were involved in a vehicle collision and one of the subjects involved had a warrant for arrest. Upon arrival, deputies were able to locate a truck that had intentionally collided into a sedan pinning it against a tree. The driver of the truck was identified as Jonathan Ray Cranford. The sedan was occupied during the incident, but no injuries were reported.   

Following an investigation of the incident, Jonathan Ray Cranford was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for two counts of felony second-degree kidnapping, two counts of misdemeanor communicating threats, two counts of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor injury to personal property.  He was issued no bond.  

Jason Scott Gutierrez was located during the incident and arrested due to having an outstanding felony warrant for possession of methamphetamine.  He received no bond. 

A first appearance was set for March 23, 2026, in Randolph County District Court for both subjects.

On March 18, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the area of Ross Harris Rd., Asheboro.   It was determined that passengers John Christopher Turner, Sherry Ann Durham, and Pamela Nicole Kelly (who originally gave a false name) had outstanding orders for arrest, and were arrested. During a subsequent search, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located. All were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. During the booking process, additional substances were located in Durham’s possession.   

The magistrate found probable cause for charges, as follows: 

Kelly: felony identity theft and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.  She was issued a $10,000 secured bond.  Outstanding orders for arrest were also served for failure to appear, and a $50,000 secured bond was issued. 

Durham: felony possession of heroin, felony possession of a controlled substance on jail premises, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and issued a $5,000 secured bond and a $2,000 secured bond for her order for arrest. 

Turner: felony possession of fentanyl, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor simple possession of schedule III, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was denied bond due to being out on pretrial release. He was issued a $2,000 secured bond for his failure to appear.   

A court date was set for March 20, 2026, in Randolph County District Court for all involved.

On March 19, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to US Hwy 311 in Archdale, in reference to a 911 open line call for service.  Upon arrival, deputies learned that Nathan Hayes Hedgecock was inside the residence and that he had been previously served a 50B protective order.  Other individuals inside the residence evacuated and were safely escorted away. Multiple commands were given for Hedgecock to exit before he did. After he was placed into custody, several deputies cleared the residence to ensure no one else was inside.   He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony domestic violence protective order violation, misdemeanor interfere with emergency communication, misdemeanor domestic criminal trespassing, and misdemeanor resisting a public officer.   Due to the domestic nature of the crimes, he was not issued a bond, and a first appearance was set for March 20, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

In October 2025, members of the Invictus Task Force initiated an investigation related to a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. During the course of the investigation, Noah James Backes was identified as a suspect.  

On March 20, 2026, the Invictus Task Force executed a search warrant; as a result, Noah James Backes was subsequently taken into custody and charged with one (1) count of Felony Second- Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and one (1) count of Felony Third-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Backes was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate issued a $100,000 secure bond and set a first appearance in Randolph County District Court for March 23, 2026. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Liberty Police Department Invictus Task Force representatives.

On January 17, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a fraud incident that had occurred.   

Following the investigation, charges were sought against Christopher Wayne Strickland for two counts of felony obtain property by false pretense and two counts of felony uttering a forged instrument, and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest. 

On March 17, 2026, Strickland was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant for arrest and issued no bond.   A first appearance was set for March 18, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On July 7, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office discovered Brandon Demario Isreal had falsely identified himself to law enforcement during a previous traffic stop.  

Following the investigation, charges were sought against Isreal for felony obstructing justice, felony identity theft, misdemeanor resist public officer, and misdemeanor display license as own.  The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and issued a warrant for arrest.  

On March 17, 2026, he was located in Chatham County, arrested, and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant. He was issued a $3,000 secured bond, and a court date was set for April 7, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

Brandon Demario Isreal

Age: 35

On March 18, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) was requested to assist the Asheboro Police Department with a vehicle pursuit of a stolen ambulance from 364 White Oak St., Asheboro. RCSO was advised that it was believed the driver, who was identified as Allan Morgan, was enroute to Moore Regional Hospital.   A traffic stop was initiated, but the driver refused to stop.  The pursuit continued South on 220 Business Alt.  and ultimately traveled into Moore County. Multiple agencies assisted in the pursuit, and it ended at the Moore Regional Hospital, where the suspect was apprehended.   

Morgan was arrested and charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony possession of stolen motor vehicle, felony flee to elude arrest with motor vehicle, misdemeanor driving while license revoked-not impaired, misdemeanor resisting public officer, misdemeanor misuse of 911 system, misdemeanor hit/run fail to stop property damage, drive wrong way on dual lane, fail to maintain lane control, and fail to stop steady red light. He is in the custody of the Randolph County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond. His first appearance is set for March 20, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.  

There were no injuries, and no Sheriff’s Office vehicles were damaged during the pursuit.

On February 18, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Jordan Rd., Ramseur, in reference to a larceny.   

Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against Kimberly Lynn Day for felony larceny by an employee. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and issued a warrant for arrest.   

On March 17, 2026, Day was located by the Criminal Apprehension Team, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where she was served her warrant and issued no bond.  A first appearance was scheduled for March 18, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

In January 2026, members of the Invictus Task Force initiated an investigation related to multiple Cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. During the course of the investigation, Cody Harris Alford was identified as a suspect.  

On March 18, 2026, the Invictus Task Force with the assistance of Johnston County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant, as a result Cody Harris Alford was subsequently taken into custody and charged with six (6) counts of Felony Second- Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Alford was transported to the Forsyth County Detention Center where the magistrate issued a $100,000 secure bond and set a first appearance in Forsyth County District Court for March 19, 2026. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Invictus Task Force representatives.

On March 14, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to NC HWY 42 S., Asheboro, in reference to a welfare check.  Upon arrival, it was determined that Madeline Anne Lyman had broken into a residence with a shovel she obtained from the carport, claiming to have crashed her car in front of the residence and that someone was chasing her on foot. Deputies did not locate a wrecked vehicle or any other subjects in the area. She was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for first-degree burglary. She was issued no bond, and a first appearance was set for March 16, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On August 1, 2019, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Old Thomasville Rd. High Point in reference to a burglary that had already occurred. 

Following the investigation and collection of evidence, charges were sought against Ginny Rebecka Spivey Gordon for felony larceny after break/enter, felony breaking and/or entering, and felony possession of stolen goods/property.  The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest. 

On March 11, 2026, Gordon was served her warrant and issued a $25,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for March 12, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On March 11, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Little River Rd., Seagrove.  The driver was identified as Nyokie Chantea Ewing, who had an active order for arrest.  She was placed under arrest.  During a subsequent search of the vehicle, marijuana and paraphernalia were located. She was transported to the Randolph County Detention. While processing Ewing, cocaine was located in her possession.  

The magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of a controlled substance on a prison/jail premises, misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to 1/2 oz, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She received not bond on these charges.   

Ms. Ewing was also served with the outstanding order for arrest. She was issued a $1,000 Secured Bond for the order for arrest and placed on a 48-hour hold due to being arrested while on pre-trial release. 

A first appearance was set for March 12, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On March 6, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received information that registered sex offender David Jason Slone had been released from jail on February 27, 2026, but had since failed to report his new address, which is a violation of the sex offender registry laws.  Charges were sought for felony fail to notify new address – sex offender.  The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest.  

On March 9, 2026, Slone was served his warrant and was issued no bond. A first appearance was set for March 10, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

The Randolph County Agricultural Center, located at 1880 US Highway 64 East in Asheboro, invites the community to join us for the Common Ground Festival, an engaging open house event, happening on Saturday, April 11^th from 10am to 3pm. This free family-friendly festival is a collaborative effort with the three departments on campus: Randolph County Agricultural Center, Randolph County Cooperative Extension, and Randolph County Soil and Water, offering a unique opportunity to explore the vital work of these departments.

Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the entire campus, including the Event Center, the James River Equipment Arena, and meeting rooms, gaining insight into our facilities and operations. The NC Rooted Community Agriculture organization will be on-site to share the benefits of the future Food Hub for producers and consumers.

In addition, tractors will be on display, providing an educational experience to learn about the machinery that supports our agricultural community. Additionally, the festival will offer various animal interactions (including the fluffy Highland Cows from Cellar Creek Farm) and photo opportunities, perfect for all ages. Children can enjoy face painting and participate in exciting 4-H activities.

The Randolph Communications Digital Skills Lab will host hands-on activities for both children and adults, while the gardener lab and greenhouse will offer stimulating workshops. Don't miss the workshop and taste test in our demo kitchen, which promises to be a delightful experience for the taste buds. Soil and Water will be demonstrating the use of their no-till drill and providing hands-on learning activities for people of all ages.

Come hungry, as there will be barbecue sandwiches from the famous Livestock Association and snacks available for purchase at the concession stand in the Event Center. Also, the Randolph Extension Community Association (ECA) will have its annual yard sale going on, so make sure to have some extra cash on hand, as you will surely find some treasures to be had. Festival-goers will also have the chance to win T-shirts and other exciting prizes throughout the day.

Passenger Ashley Carolyn Freeman, who initially gave a false name, had an active Order for Arrest for failure to appear out of Randolph County. Freeman was not arrested for her outstanding processes nor her new charges during this incident due to medical reasons. 

A Warrant for Arrest was sought for felony possession of methamphetamine, felony identity theft, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor resisting public officer and the magistrate found probable cause to issue.

On March 9, 2026, Freeman was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where she was served her outstanding warrant and order for arrest.  She was issued a $10,000 secured bond, and a first appearance was set for March 10, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On April 14, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Union Church Rd., Asheboro.   

During a subsequent search, methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located.  

The driver, Samuel Taylor Scott, and the passenger, Jennifer Lynn Callicutt, were both arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. They were issued a $1,000 secured bond, and a first appearance was set for April 14, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.     

Scott was also issued a Citation for driving while his license was revoked.

On March 9, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Old Cedar Falls Rd & Lansdowne Rd in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies found a vehicle stopped in the middle of Lansdowne Rd. with the brake lights on. A female was unconscious in the driver's seat and did not initially respond to deputies knocking on the window since the door was locked. The female released her foot from the brake, causing the vehicle to start rolling toward several homes and parked cars on Lansdowne Rd. Deputies attempted to break the driver's side window to gain access and put the vehicle in park. The truck rolled approximately 25 to 30 yards, eventually entering a ditch. Around this time, the female regained responsiveness, was able to put the truck in park, and opened the locked driver's door. 

She was identified as Ashley Carolyn Freeman, who had active, unserved warrants and an arrest order.  Freeman was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center.  During the booking process, she was found to be in possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.   

Due to how incoherent Freeman was, she was transported to Randolph Hospital for evaluation.   

Charges were sought against Freeman for two counts of felony trafficking in fentanyl, felony possession of a controlled substance on jail premises, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.   

Following her evaluation, she was transported back to the Detention Center and served her processes.   She received no bond for the charges related to this incident.  A first appearance was set for March 10, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

Ashley Carolyn Freeman

Age: 32

On March 9, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hilltop Dr., Archdale, in reference to a burglary in progress.  While enroute, Communications advised that they had received multiple calls from occupants of the residence with verbal altercations heard in the background of the call. The offender was identified as Mark Anthony Strickland. Upon arrival, deputies observed that the door frame had been broken. 

Following the investigation and collection of evidence, Strickland was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony first-degree burglary, felony break/enter terrorize/injure, misdemeanor injury to real property, and misdemeanor communicating threats. He was issued no bond. A first appearance was set for March 10, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

In October 2025, members of the Invictus Task Force initiated an investigation into an act of solicitation by computer. During the course of the investigation, Mark Keeney was identified as a suspect.  

On March 05, 2026, the Invictus Task Force executed a search warrant, and as a result, Mark Keeney was subsequently taken into custody and charged with two (2) counts of Felony Solicitation of a Child by Computer & Appear and one (1) count of Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child. Keeney was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate issued no bond and set a first appearance in Randolph County District Court for March 6, 2026. On March 9, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious vehicle call on Suits Rd., Archdale.   The license plate number the caller provided produced a hit for a stolen vehicle. A Deputy spotted the vehicle heading northbound on Suits Rd. Deputies caught up to the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed. 

During the pursuit, deputies observed the driver driving recklessly and without due regard for themselves or the motoring public. The pursuit ended with a Pursuit Intervention Technique by the Criminal Interdiction Team Highway Unit when a safe opportunity presented itself.  The driver was identified as Bailey Reona Singer.   She was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, no operator’s license, fail to yield stop sign/flashing red light, reckless driving to endanger, drive left of center, wrong way on dual lane highway, and exceeding posted speed.  The magistrate found probable cause for the charges.   She was issued no bond, and a first appearance was set for March 10, 2026, in Randolph County District Court. 

She was also served with her outstanding processes out of Guilford County and issued a $4,200 secured bond.

In July 2025, members of the Invictus Task Force initiated an investigation related to multiple Cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. During the course of the investigation, Liam Draeger Craver was identified as a suspect.  

On March 10, 2026, a search warrant was executed by members of the Invictus Task Force. As a result, Liam Draeger Craver was subsequently taken into custody and charged with one (1) count of Felony Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and one (1) count of Felony Third Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Craver was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate issued no bond and set a first appearance in Randolph County District Court for March 11, 2026. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the NC SBI Computer Crimes, Invictus Task Force representative.

On March 4, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office VNET conducted a traffic stop near W. Academy St. & I-73 in Randleman. During the traffic stop, a K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, and a probable cause search was conducted. Detectives located and seized a trafficking amount of methamphetamine and US Currency. As a result of the traffic stop, the Vice Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at a residence located on New Hope Church Rd., Asheboro. During the search, methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located.  

As a result, Antwain Darel Soriano was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for the charge of felony trafficking in methamphetamine.  He received a $100,000 secured bond, and a first appearance was set for March 6, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On March 7, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to NC Hwy 42 S., Asheboro, in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, deputies located a male subject matching the description provided to Communications. He was identified as John Christopher Turner. During the investigation, illegal narcotics and paraphernalia were located. He was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where probable cause was found for the charges of felony first-degree burglary, felony possession of a schedule two controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Turner was given no bond at this time. A first appearance was scheduled for March 9, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.

On March 6, 2026, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the rear of Dollar General at Providence Church Rd. and US Highway 220, Randleman. Upon approach, a male, later identified as James Samuel Sams, came from behind the dumpster. During the investigation, it was determined that Sams had two orders for his arrest, one from Wake County and one from Guilford County. During a search incident to arrest, heroin was located. Sams was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of heroin. He was issued a $11,500 secured bond, and a first appearance was scheduled for March 6, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
