On August 30, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s office responded to Crescent Drive, Asheboro, in reference to a fight-in-progress call. Upon arrival, the complainant was located with injuries and reported that Stevie Allen Welch had assaulted her. He fled the scene through the woods prior to the deputy’s arrival. It was determined that Welch was on probation, and one of his conditions was that he had to wear an ankle monitor. Probation was contacted, and deputies utilized the GPS coordinates to locate Welch hiding in the woods across from the residence. Welch was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury and misdemeanor assault on a female, and issued no bond. Welch is scheduled to appear in Randolph County District Court on September 2, 2025.
