On June 1, 2025, inmate Barry Anthony Blake assaulted a Randolph County Detention Center Officer during a medical evaluation. Officers were able to intervene and restrain him. He continued to exhibit aggressive behavior after being restrained and monitored for a period of time without further incident.
The Detention Officer was treated and released at Randolph Hospital.
Blake was charged with felony assault causing physical injury to a detention employee. The magistrate issued no bond, and a court date was set for June 6, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
