On March 18, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) was requested to assist the Asheboro Police Department with a vehicle pursuit of a stolen ambulance from 364 White Oak St., Asheboro. RCSO was advised that it was believed the driver, who was identified as Allen Morgan, was enroute to Moore Regional Hospital. A traffic stop was initiated, but the driver refused to stop. The pursuit continued South on 220 Business Alt. and ultimately traveled into Moore County. Multiple agencies assisted in the pursuit, and it ended at the Moore Regional Hospital, where the suspect was apprehended.
Morgan was arrested and charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony possession of stolen motor vehicle, felony flee to elude arrest with motor vehicle, misdemeanor driving while license revoked-not impaired, misdemeanor resisting public officer, misdemeanor misuse of 911 system, misdemeanor hit/run fail to stop property damage, drive wrong way on dual lane, fail to maintain lane control, and fail to stop steady red light. He is in the custody of the Randolph County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond. His first appearance is set for March 20, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
There were no injuries, and no Sheriff’s Office vehicles were damaged during the pursuit.
