On January 29, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Old Thomasville Road and Prospect Church Road in Thomasville in reference to an Agency Assist call for service. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol advised that a Hispanic male, later identified as Roberto Del Angel Garcia, was observed fleeing the area on foot from a vehicle crash that occurred at 5459 Old Thomasville Road.
Upon arrival in the area, a male subject matching the provided description was observed walking on Prospect Church Road. During the investigation, the male denied involvement. After several seconds, Garcia began running, dropped his cell phone, and continued to ignore verbal commands, and eventually lost sight of him. A Thomasville Police Department K9 Unit arrived on scene in an attempt to track Garcia, but was unsuccessful. While the deputy was canvassing the area, a firearm was located in the area where Garcia was last seen fleeing.
Charges were sought against Garcia for Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Felony Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Misdemeanor Resisting, Delaying, or Obstructing a Public Officer, and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest. The collected items were entered into evidence.
On January 30, 2026, Garcia was located in Davidson County, arrested, and transported to the Davidson County Detention Center, where he was served his warrants. He was issued a $15,000 secured bond, and a court date was set for February 9, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
