On January 26, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Old Coleridge Rd., Siler City, in reference to an assault in progress. While enroute, Communications advised that the caller/victim reported being physically assaulted by a male identified as Cody Alexander Key. Upon arrival, the victim was visibly injured, and EMS responded for evaluation.
Following the investigation, Key was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. While transporting Key, Communications completed the warrant check and advised that Key was wanted in Barboursville, WV, for felony residential arson.
The magistrate found probable cause for misdemeanor assault on a female and additionally served Key with a fugitive warrant, regarding his warrant and extradition out of West Virginia. He was issued a $3,000 secured bond on the misdemeanor and held without bond regarding the fugitive warrant. A first appearance was set for January 27, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
