On February 27, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Old Thomasville Rd., Archdale. The driver was identified as James Lacy McCormick, Jr., who was operating on a suspended driver's license and was also on active probation. During a subsequent search, an illegal substance and paraphernalia were located.
Following an investigation charges were sought against McCormick for felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor driving while license revoked – not impaired revoked. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant.
On November 11, 2025, McCormick was located in Rockingham County, arrested, and transported to the Rockingham County Detention Center where he was served his warrant. He was issued He was issued no $2,500 secured bond. A court date was set for December 1, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
