On September 4, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on Charles Mountain Rd., Denton, but the vehicle continued to drive on for almost a mile, finally stopping on Volunteer Rescue Rd. Upon approach, the driver was identified as Phillip Dean Osborne. During a subsequent search, illegal narcotics and paraphernalia were located. Osborne was released pending further investigation.
Following the investigation, charges were sought against Osborne for felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor driving while license revoked -impaired revoked, misdemeanor resisting a public officer, misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and driving left of center. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and issued a warrant for arrest.
On November 3, 2025, Osborne was arrested in Davidson County and transported to the Davidson County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant. He was issued no bond, and a first appearance was set for November 5, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
