On September 1, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a larceny of rented equipment reportedly from a job site in Randolph County.
During the Criminal Investigations Division Detective’s investigation, it was learned that the equipment was equipped with a GPS monitoring device while working with the vendor’s asset protection team. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia located and took possession of the stolen equipment for return to the vendor. Following the investigation, charges were sought on Janique Keonta Williams for felony obstructing justice and felony obtain property by false pretense. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and issued a warrant for arrest.
On August 8, 2025, Williams was located in Guilford County, arrested, and transported to the Guilford County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant and issued a $15,000 secured bond. A court date was set for September 15, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
