On July 8, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice Narcotics Unit concluded an investigation relating to the distribution of narcotics in Randolph County. As a result of this investigation, Detectives, along with the assistance of the Asheboro Police Department, executed a search warrant at the residence of John Robert Gainey on S. Park St. in Asheboro. During the search, Detectives located and seized a trafficking amount of fentanyl, methamphetamine, alprazolam, and items of drug paraphernalia.
As a result, John Robert Gainey was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of felony trafficking in heroin, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver schedule II controlled substance, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver schedule IV controlled substance, felony maintain vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance, misdemeanor simple possession of schedule VI controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $30,000 secured bond with a first appearance set for July 9, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
