On July 3, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Uwharrie Rd., Archdale. Upon identification of the driver, it was determined that he was on probation and subject to warrantless searches. During the subsequent search, an illegal substance and paraphernalia were located in the passenger area. The driver was issued a warning ticket for not having the tag lights illuminated and was free to go.
The passenger, identified as Miguel Velez, was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of schedule II and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and was given a $5,000 secured bond. He was also served an outstanding warrant out of Guilford County for Communicating Threats and Assault on a female and given a $2,500.00 secured bond. A first appearance is scheduled for July 7, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
