
In November 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Invictus Task Force began working on an investigation related to a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Throughout this investigation, James Anderson Mauney, a resident of Randolph County, North Carolina, was identified as a suspect.
On January 10, 2025, the Invictus Task Force executed a search warrant and as a result, Mauney was taken into custody and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for ten (10) counts of 1st Degree Sexual Exploitation of Minor and ten (10) counts of 2nd Degree Exploitation of Minor. He was issued a $350,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set in Randolph County District Court for January 13, 2025. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Invictus Task Force representatives.
