In November 2024, the Tazwell County Sheriff’s Office in the state of Illinois began working an investigation related to a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Throughout this investigation, Cody Ware, a resident of Randolph County, North Carolina, was identified as a suspect.
In December 2024, the Invictus Task Force was notified of an active warrant for Cody Ware in the state of Illinois. Cody Ware was charged with offenses related to the distribution of child sexual abuse material.
On January 3, 2025, the Invictus Task Force executed a search warrant and as a result Cody Ware was taken into custody and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate issued no bond and set a first appearance in Randolph County District Court for January 6, 2024. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Invictus Task Force representatives, or the Tazwell County Sheriff’s Office.
