On December 8, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Old Cox Rd., Asheboro, in reference to a welfare check. Upon arrival, deputies located an unconscious male driver parked in a private drive. They were able to wake the male subject and identified him as Roscoe Edward Daniel, Jr. During this time, they observed paraphernalia in his possession. Fire & EMS responded for evaluation.
During a subsequent search, illegal substances were also located. Daniel sought medical care and was not taken into immediate custody. Charges were sought for felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession with the intent to manufacture/sell/deliver methamphetamine, felony maintaining a dwelling/vehicle for a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest.
On December 22, 2024, Daniel was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served his warrant. He was given no bond due to already being out on pre-trial release. He was also served an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear and issued a $2,5400 secured bond. A first appearance was issued for December 23, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
