On October 30, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop in the 2000 block area of NC Hwy 134, Asheboro. During the investigation, the passenger, identified as Jequarius Dion Leake, was found to be in possession of a firearm reported stolen out of Richmond County. Leake was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm. Due to being on pre-trial release for other charges, Leake was held without bond and a first appearance was set for November 1, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
