On October 11, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Fork Creek Mill Rd. and Morning View Rd., Seagrove, regarding a report of a male subject walking back and forth in the area. Upon arrival, deputies located a male walking on Fork Creek Mill Rd. During the initial encounter with the male, later identified as Charles Eugene Saunders, a knife was observed on Saudners and was seized and secured for safety. During a subsequent search, additional knives, methamphetamine, and paraphernalia were located. He was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of Schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. Saunders is currently out on pretrial release so a bond was not authorized. A first appearance was set for October 14, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
