On June 20, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team -Urban Unit was conducting a license checkpoint in the Trinity area. As a vehicle approached the checkpoint, detectives learned that the driver, who was identified as Victoria Elaine Baity, did not have a valid driver’s license. After further investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle Baity was operating had been reported stolen out of Charlotte. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, a license plate was located that had also been reported stolen out of Charlotte.
Baity was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods. She was issued a $5,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for June 24, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
