On May 22, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Beckerdite Rd., in reference to a fight in progress. Upon arrival, the victim claimed that Lawrence Beauford Cranford, Sr. had attempted to run him over with a vehicle while he was doing yard work at the location.
During the investigation, evidence was obtained in the incident and charges were sought against Cranford for felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant.
On May 30, 2024, Cranford was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served his outstanding warrant. He was issued a $10,000 unsecured bond and a first appearance was set for June 3, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
