On February 15, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division initiated an investigation of a suspected fraud that occurred in District Court at the Randolph County Courthouse. Shalinda Bailey Latham presented a physician’s note in an attempt to have an order for arrest recalled. Following the criminal investigation, charges were sought against Latham for felony obstructing justice on March 26, 2024.
On March 29, 2024, Latham was located during a traffic stop and arrested on her outstanding warrant. She was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where she was served the warrant and denied bond at that time. A first appearance was set for April 1, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
This is an ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
