On January 1, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on I-73 Southbound near Spero Rd. The driver was identified as Da’Shawn Latrell Williams. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, paraphernalia was located. He was then placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, careless and reckless driving, failure to carry license and speeding. He was issued a written promise to appear.
While the deputy was packaging and entering the evidence collected, methamphetamine was located, he therefore responded back to the Detention Center where Williams was located in front of the jail. He was again arrested and taken back before the magistrate where he was additionally charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling. Dashawn was given a written promise to appear, and his first court appearance is set for January 8, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
