On November 8, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was conducting routine patrol in the area of US 4 W, Asheboro, when deputies observed a vehicle in the parking lot of AJ Mart that did not have a license plate displayed. During the encounter with the female, identified as Kyndrah Raye Byrd, she acknowledged that she was illegally operating the vehicle on state roadways. She also indicated that there were illegal substances inside the vehicle. During a subsequent search, methamphetamine was located. Communications advised that the vehicle’s insurance was also expired. Byrd was released and charges were sought on a criminal summons for felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor no liability insurance and misdemeanor driving vehicle with no registration plate displayed. The magistrate found probable cause and issued the summons.
On December 2, 2023, Byrd was served the criminal summons. A court appearance was set for December 18, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
