On November 12, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Riverwood Rd., Randleman, in reference to a suspicious vehicle. The caller stated that a vehicle with an out-of-state tag was sitting in the middle of the road running, and it appeared the driver was asleep.
Upon arrival, the deputy approached the vehicle and observed a male sitting in the driver’s seat and the vehicle still in drive. When the deputy was able to wake the male, he looked at the deputy, grabbed the steering wheel and the vehicle began moving forward. At this point, the deputy knocked on the window again and told the driver to stop the vehicle. The driver placed the vehicle in park, and the deputy approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and advised the driver to exit the vehicle. As the male was exiting, paraphernalia with methamphetamine fell from his lap. He was placed under arrest and identified as Jeremy Wayne Allen. Randolph County EMS responded for evaluation and Allen refused further treatment.
Allen was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. The magistrate was unable to set a bond due to Allen haven a pending charge. A first appearance was set for November 13, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
