Department Summary

The Emergency Services department has 220 full-time and part-time employees. The department is comprised of six main divisions: 

The department is responsible for fire inspection and enforcement of the N.C. State Building Codes, and fire investigation to determine origin and cause; to answer and dispatch all emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance through 9-1-1 for all public safety agencies in the County; to respond to and provide appropriate pre-hospital medical care and transport.  Our prevention services include public education, mitigation measures through preplanning, and disaster planning. This department operates 24 hours per day. 

Emergency Services Goal

To protect our community by preventing and minimizing loss of life, pain and suffering, property loss, and environmental damage from fire, natural disasters, and medical emergencies by offering education, prevention, and emergency response.
