On March 27, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a business located at 9494 US Hwy 220 Bus. N., Randleman, in reference to a welfare check.
Upon arrival, deputies located Danny Ray Atkins, Jr in the parking lot. During a subsequent search, an illegal substance and paraphernalia were located in his possession. Atkins was ultimately transported by EMS to an area hospital.
Charges were sought against Atkins Jr., and the magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest for felony possession of fentanyl and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
On April 1, 2026, Atkins was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant for arrest. He was issued a $5,000 secured bond, and a first appearance was set for April 6, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
